NGEXSA Fako chapter : The Pacesetter Chapter

Our Unique Beginning

The idea to create a Fako Chapter of NGEXSA, nursed by the then Interim Administration of NGEXSA, had been lingering for a fairly long while. Then on Saturday, June 15th 2022 in Tole, there was the funeral program of the late mother of Mrs. Grace Fonjock.

Present to represent NGEXSA were:

* Mr. Samuel Takem
* Mr. Dominic Ngwese
* Dr. Doreen Nasako Bebe
* Mr. Mbu Richard
* Mr. Eyeni Eyeni
* Mr. Batebe Agbor Boniface

Moved by a spontaneous overflow of nostalgic emotions, they agreed to instantly start a Buea Chapter of NGEXSA. That same moment, Dr. Nasako was unanimously chosen as the Interim President while a first meeting was immediately scheduled.

The meeting took place as planned, an interim EXCO was constituted, a 1,000 F CFA registration fee instituted and all present registered that same day. From then on, there was no turning back. Buea chapter, the first legitimate child of NGEXSA was born.

A few months later, members agreed that it would be bigger, better and merrier if the character and name were changed to Fako Chapter. This was done and true to that thinking, ex-students from Limbe, Tiko, Muyuka and Penda Mboko stormed in and the rest is a tale.

Someone may find it difficult to believe that since that June till date, no single month has passed without a chapter meeting being held.

Growth & Activities

The challenges were enormous but unity of purpose and the resolve to succeed kept us going as we laid the foundations.

Today Fako Chapter boasts of over 50 members, with over 30 active ones. We have a strong EXCO, a solid chapter by-laws, a sound solidarity system to support members both in difficult and joyful circumstances. We also run a Njagi contribution/loan scheme for mutual/self help. Our end of year is usually graced by a party.

The Pioneer president of the chapter, Dr. Doreen Nasako Bebe, her team and the entire members must be proud of what their efforts has yielded - The Pacesetter Chapter.

In keeping with the objective of empowerment as enshrined in the constitution of the mother NGEXSA, this year the chapter offered a token of financial support and motivation to the now famous Grammar School Nguti 2024 GCE O-Level lone successful candidate. These are our kind of actions that motivate people like Mr. Ebini Benjamin (U.S.A) to join the chapter.

Fako chapter members beat their chests today as the pacesetter chapter and nucleus of mother NGEXSA, always willing and ready to stand for the mother association whenever called upon. Glaring examples are when with pride they single-handedly planned, organized and hosted two successful Conventions for the mother association and the third one is loading.

Chapter Meetings

Fako chapter meetings are held every last Sunday of the month, the hosting rotates round the different towns in Fako. The meetings are such exciting rendezvous that no member can afford to miss a single meeting.
The camaraderie, the ambience, the nostalgia evoked as we recount Nguti school days stories are extraordinary. No wonder, Dr. Eban Ebai (U.S.A.), on a visit to Cameroon attended one of our meetings and instantly registered and became a member of the chapter.
